Ted Gebhardt began his journey into the world of jewelry design in 1945, at the age of fifteen, earning ten dollars a week. He first learned the art of setting cocktail jewelry with a mixture of semi-precious stones and small diamonds.

This beginning, on The Bowery, was grueling and held limited growth potential. Ted, feeling the tug for something more, interviewed with and convinced a business owner that he had the necessary experience to set fine platinum diamond rings. He immersed himself in the art and quickly developed the skills of a master craftsman.

At twenty-one, Ted decided the time was right to venture out on his own. Three years later, from this humble beginning, he formed Crescent Wedding Rings in 1954. Ted based his business on strong, personal convictions:

As business expanded, so did Crescent Wedding Rings. Soon Ted hired his first sales person and the company moved to 47th Street, where it quickly grew to six employees. In 2000, after forty-five years of excellence,Ted passed the torch and ownership of the company to his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Leslie Gebhardt. Armed with the same values and conviction that built this great company, Mark and Leslie began a new phase of expansion.
